Tennis Court of Justice

Haaretz reports that the Swedish Tennis Federation has been fined $ 40,000 to the International Tennis Federation after the D C scandal in Malmö a few weeks ago.  Then, the tie against Israel — that the Swedes lost — was played without an audience while throngs of anti-Israeli demonstrators outside the arena did what they could to stop the game. $ 15,000 is meant to compensate for the ticket sales revenues, and $ 25,000 is a fine.

Furthermore, the ITF decided that if this kind of incident is repeated, the Swedish Tennis Federation will lose its right to play the following D C tie in Sweden. The city of Malmö is also banned from hosting any D C matches for the coming five years.

The last decision seems to be mostly of a symbolic nature, however, since the Swedish Tennis Federation already has announced that it will “revise” its D C agreement with Malmö.
